Dooley seems to be a normal teenager but always has something bad happening in his life. For one, his mother has appeared in his life, then in no time, she was gone-for good. His girlfriend (Beth) is very mad at him, all because she found out that Dooley's mom has died and he never told her. His uncle gets arrested for the murder of Lorraine (Dooley's mother), but it doesn't say yet if he did or didn't do it.

Dooley and his girlfriend have a strong relationship. Every time hes with her, he doesn't think about the problems in his life. He relies on her, whenever he doesn't work he calls her, asks her to go to the library with him, and asks her if he can come over after school.

Without Beth do you think Dooley would go back to his old life?
Do you think everyone relies on someone to lean on?

The book that I am reading is, Homicide Related. This book is about a teenager named, Dooley. His father left him and his mother at a very young age. You would think that he lives with his mother, but he doesn't. He lives with his uncle because of Dooley's past. But now he is trying to improve himself from what happened in the past.

Dooley's past life was all about getting into trouble at school, which from there carried on into the law, with drugs and booze. He is good friends with a guy named Jeffie that is into hardcore drugs. He asks Dooley for money (doesn't say how much) to pay back a dealer and promises Dooley that he will get his money back. They arrange a day for Dooley to get his money back. That day comes and Dooley was waiting for Jeffie for about two hours and finally realizes that he will not be showing up. The next day, Jeffie shows up at Dooley's work (a video store) looking for forgiveness and says hes sorry for not showing up and he will get the money to him ASAP.

Dooley is an average person going to school and work and is having problems with everything. He hates school and work, but he knows he has to deal with it. He has a girlfriend and knows he has to deal with her too ;).

One day Dooley goes to the library to work on an assignment while his uncle is at a poker game with his cops friends. The next day when Dooley comes home from work he sees two detectives leave his house. He asks his uncle why they were here because he knew they weren't friends with his uncle. His uncle finds out that Lorraine (Dooley's mom) has died. The detectives think the dead is cause by an overdose. Dooley doesn't seem to care because him and his mother weren't close and when Dooley was in prison, his mother never visited or called him. The detectives ask Dooley questions about the night when his mother died. Questions that make Dooley think they are suspecting his uncle as the killer. They show Dooley a photo of three grave stones and Dooley doesn't understand but they had the same last name as his uncle. The detectives tell Dooley to ask his uncle.
When Dooley got home he shows his uncle the photograph of the grave stones. His uncle said where did you get that and Dooley said, does it really matter. Dooley asked him if they were his grandparents and the third one said Lorraine (which was his mom's name) but the photograph was taken a couple of years ago. His uncle explained that his parents adopted Dooley's mother. Dooley asked his uncle why their relationship wasn't so good. He then said that Dooley's mother (the adopted one) was a bad kid, running away from the house getting his uncle's mother worried for days. She was into drugs and alcohol and into the law. One time she ran away and said she was sorry and she would never do it again. Her mother came and she was too tired to drive so Lorraine took the wheel for her to sleep. Next thing you know she got into a car accident because she was under the influence of drugs that killed her mother.

How would you feel if you had lived your whole life not knowing the truth about your family?
How would you feel if detectives had to tell you the truth?
